Stephen Robinson has ducked out of criticising Nick Walsh over the penalty that he awarded against St Mirren on Saturday.

Rather than discuss the decision against Declan Gallagher the St Mirren boss opted to rope Celtic into a match that they weren’t involved in.

Amazingly, having had Saturday night and Sunday to reflect on a 4-0 defeat at Ibrox, Robinson claimed that he hadn’t watched a replay of the penalty incident despite coverage on BBC Scotland and Sky Sports.

In these days of video analysis it is almost impossible to believe that a coach hasn’t reviewed the goals scored in their match within an hour of the final whistle.

Body-swerving the obvious issue of Nick Walsh, Robinson told the Daily Record/Renfrewshire Live Sport:

We felt decisions didn’t go our way at 1-0. I haven’t seen the penalty decision back, but Declan Gallagher is adamant he got the ball. He’s adamant he got a touch and was there before him (Colak) but the referee said Colak got first contact on it.

That didn’t seem to really correlate to where the ball went. But the decision went against us and against Rangers or Celtic you need these things to go your way. We also didn’t defend as well as we should have.

Walsh is back at the day job this week, working on the fitness of Murray Park starlets attending Boclair High School in Bearsden.

Seems to be no obvious distinction there, between refereeing SPFL games at the weekend and training up his boys during the week. Same thing really, only the SPFL games at the weekend.
