Steven McLean understands encroachment at a penalty kick, all players other than the taker and goalkeeper have to stay outside of the penalty box.
When Hearts were awarded a 60th minute penalty against Celtic Josh Ginnelly got on the end of Lawrence Shankland’s rebound to put the ball in the net from an offside position.
Rather than disallow the goal eagle-eyes McLean ordered a retake for infringement with Ginnelly marginally inside the penalty box when the ball was struck.
That’s an affirmative.
Number 77 for Hearts encroaching.
Touchdown.
20 yard loss.
4th down.

There was an earlier penalty kick in which McLean wasn’t quite so alert to encroachment.
As Shankland struck the ball Robert Snodgrass had one foot planted inside the penalty box with his whole body within 18 yards of the goal. On this occasion VAR specialist McLean never noticed.
ALL of the VAR decisions yesterday went the way of Hearts.
What are the odds?
And what will the Celtic board have to say about it?
Scottish football is seriously compromised by these people.
It has to stop, not just for our benefit but everyone’s.
If it doesn’t, the games a bogey in Scotland.
Clean up Scottish football.
Expose the cheats.
I’ve had these discussions for a while now.
One team benefits to the disadvantage of everyone else.
While Celtic may be the ones fighting for trophies all clubs are effected.
This issue isn’t Celtic’s fight alone. The rest of the clubs need to get up off their knees to.
Scottish football is corrupt thats afact its them at liebrox that will benefit most through VAR the corrupt sfa.spfl needs cleaned out from top to bottom nae wae our football is getting laughed at from down south eh if i was the celtic manager i would have took my players off the park yesterday especially after the penalty was refused.
