The two Celts who are trending on Twitter

Celtic Park was very much the focus of attention last night for the latest chapter in the Champions League.

There was a fairly familiar theme to the night with Celtic again falling just short of the victory that many will feel their Champions League efforts have deserved.

Ange Postecoglou knows that football doesn’t work that way, it revolves around fine margins with no points offered for endeavour.

The Champions League has been a real roller-coaster for the Australian. There has been the novelty of something entirely new, the thrill of going head-to-head with the best in the business and the pain of just falling short.

Just two years ago Celtic were being hammered by Sparta Prague, 4-1 home and away in empty stadiums but no matter the progress of the journey Postecoglou feels the hurt and a slight sense of disappointment that his side is not quite getting the results he had hoped for.

One very definite success story is Reo Hatate. From Matchday One against Real Madrid he has flourished in the very heat of battle in the middle of the park.

The touches, moves and passes have all been there, they haven’t all came off but he is a far better player than a year ago or even two months ago.

If Japan have five or six better midfielders for their World Cup squad they must be a decent shout to progress deep into the competition.

Look let’s be honest here we ain’t a champions league team we are there to make the numbers up.
I wouldn’t be to quick to laugh at sevco tonight regardless what skelping they get because these results home and away from both teams leave a lot to be desired.
We are in there for the privilege of playing in the big guys playground nothing else, acting like a couple of nickel&dime football clubs.
Our bread&butter is the league as for the champions league that’s the Ball (pardon the pun)that’s just an invite to a big party where our club then subcontract tickets to the mugs to buy into the big party con at a high price.
Only my opinion so don’t shoot the messenger.

I will take any opportunity to laugh at sevco. This competition is not a champions league it’s a money league. When you have four teams from the top leagues in europe playing in it what chance do you to compete with them when they are making more money in one year than scottish clubs can make in 10 years
