Saturday’s match away to St Johnstone could have ended up very differently if it had been played after the World Cup break with VAR in operation.

There will still be plenty of scope for match officials to indulge in honest mistakes, to play the disadvantage rule and slow Celtic down at every opportunity.

One aspect that will change is offside, rather than be subject to the automatic reaction of assistants like Alastair Mather play will be allowed to continue until the ball is dead.

That may result in some goal celebrations being cut short by a VAR decision but over time it should be an area where Celtic benefit considerably.

The above incident is typical of Scottish officials. Forrest holds his run, times his movement perfect to create a one-on-one and a 50-50 chance to score. Three minutes later St Johnsone were on level terms through Alex Mitchell but fortunately even Mather couldn’t do anything to deny Giorgos Giakoumakis his winning goal.

It happens week after week Celtic are denied false calls not by incompetent referees and linesmen but by cheating officials who know what they are trying to do( stop us winning the league). If they had their way they would hand Rangers the league right now. Why didn’t they bring in VARS now.

The Scottish game is as corrupt as you can get .For years we have sat back and watched this happen and that’s why Scottish football is the laughing stock in Europe. Why are our players always getting injured. Its because they are not being protected by the same cheating officials
