The top team at the Daily Record believe that Giovanni van Bronckhorst can avoid a repeat of his side’s 7-1 hammering from Liverpool.

Since that scoreline the Ibrox side have hobbled through matches against Motherwell, Dundee and Livingston with barely any sign of life with the clock ticking down to their trip to Italy.

While van Bronckhorst’s side have racked up a 1-16 aggregate in the Champions League Napoli have been on fire with a run of 11 successive win including four Champions League matches running up a goal difference of 17-4.

Another 4-0 defeat tonight would be the borderline score tonight, if it goes beyond that the anger will turn on the Ibrox board for keeping the hapless Dutchman in his job despite presiding over two months of misery selecting players that appear to have downed tools.

The top team at the Record predicts.

Even the most optimistic of Rangers fans will be hoping for nothing much more than a bit of damage limitation in Naples. A draw would represent a major result but, quite frankly, that also seems like wishful thinking. The scoreline is likely to be decided by what heroics Allan McGregor can come up with on the night. Napoli 4 Rangers 0

Craig Swan

Rangers were done by three goals at Ibrox and there’s every chance the scoreline will be repeated in Naples with the hosts red hot in this year’s Champions League. Napoli 3 Rangers 0

Michael Gannon

IT’S tough to make a case for anything but a comfortable Napoli win. Gers won’t need to get freaked out in the final third like in recent weeks at home but keeping the Italians out will be some ask. A narrow defeat would be a moral victory in the circumstances. Napoli 2-0 Rangers

Andy Newport

It’s been a brutal return to the Champions League for the Light Blues and it’s unlikely to get any better tonight against the sizzling Serie A leaders. Keeping the score down may be the best Gio van Bronckhorst and his team can hope for. Napoli 3 Rangers 0

Normally someone will predict a draw but it seems that the Record team are in unison about tonight’s match.

Ajax visit Ibrox on Tuesday to complete the group phase, James Tavernier will captain the Tribute Act tonight.

Pishful thinking and bollocks from the compliant fanboy meedja yet again.

They all know the only way sevco will avoid a total rogering is if Napoli hold back or send out their reserves.

  • Garry Cowan says:

Napoli score early it could very well be another demolition..fingers crossed it is
