Daily Record repeats bizarre claim about Jota

The Daily Record has repeated an incredible claim by Alan Hutton that Jota could have been sent off against Ross County- before he had came onto the pitch!

The former Spurs and Aston Villa likes to throw his opinions around on websites, unless he is tipping Celtic players to be transferred he rarely has something positive to say about anything hoops related.

All those pre-season predictions about an epic title race going ‘right to the wire’ are looking like going spectacularly wrong which requires a change in direction for talking points.

After falling behind to a penalty that most pundits deemed ridiculous David Turnbull equalised in the 62nd minute to put Celtic back on course for victory.

At this stage Hutton discovered something upsetting which the Record was happy to share with their readers:

The quick-thinking winger was warming up before he entered the pitch to retrieve the ball after David Turnbull’s equaliser against the Staggies. Ange Postecoglou ‘s runaway leaders would go onto to secure three points to leave rivals Rangers trailing by nine points heading into the World Cup break. Sead Haskabanovic’s clever finish downed the Staggies and sent Parkhead punters happy.

Jota’s act of ingenuity was saluted on social media but Hutton has a differing opinion and he reckons the former Benfica man was taking a major risk by entering the field of play to speed up his side’s desire to get the game back restarted. And Hutton, while offering a caveat, believes it’s a risk which shouldn’t be repeated.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Rangers man said: “Obviously you understand how much it means to him He is not on the pitch and he is reacting that way. But, the flip side to that is that you are walking a fine line.

You should not be there, you should not be doing that and the ref can interpret that however he sees fit. You could get booked or sent off for coming on the field of play. Yes it is good to see that everybody looks like they are pulling in the one direction. They are desperate to win which is a great thing, you just have to be careful you do not overstep the mark.“

Hutton as unable to give any examples of players that have ben booked o sent off for enteng the field of play hen the game has been halted.

Joe. Why don’t we start to ignore the Record, most of the time.

Editor: Well down to sales of 64k a day and falling rapidly it will soon be ignoring itself, happy to help them on the way. No more Motherwell billionaires or The Pledge in the near future.

Probably had his rally the troops speeches all worked out in his head just before Turnbull scored

‘ Only 4 points , come back after the break refreshed ‘ , ‘ Momentum now with Rangers ‘

    Then boom 1-1 , then 2-1

Final whistle he would’ve been spewing ha ha

  • Daniel Docherty says:

Entering or leaving the field of play without the refs permission yellow card
