After using up virtually every excuse in the book to cover up for five Champions League defeats Giovanni van Bronckhorst blamed the SPFL for losing at home to Ajax.
Last Wednesday the Dutch side were turned over 3-0 by Liverpool in the Johan Cruyff Arena while the Tribute Act were losing by the same score in Napoli.
On Saturday van Bronckhorst’s side enjoyed a morale boosting 4-1 win over Aberdeen but it seems that a free weekend for Ajax was the decisive factor last night.
All through the first half of this year fans were getting told how the Tribute Act had beaten Champions League teams such as Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, strangely when they got to play proper Champions League teams they ended up replacing Dinamo Zagreb as the worst team ever to play in the group stage.
“They had six days off, their league is thinking about their players!”
“They haven’t had a game at the weekend, I’m not saying we need help, but I’m saying they had a free weekend.”

When Ajax beat Rangers 4-0 back in September, they also played at the weekend prior on the same day Rangers played Celtic.
So even without a break, they can still beat GVB’s mob.

Worst team ever in the champions league, I’m not sure the 6 days off Ajax had was the difference
