Following the release then the hasty withdrawl of a framed print of their biggest ever defeat the Ibrox Tribute Act has given Sky Sports the go ahead to celebrate the first anniversary of Giovanni van Bronckhorst as manager.

Twelve months ago the Dutchman added his own brand of arrogance to the nine-year-old club, inheriting a four point lead over Celtic with no departures from the squad that had won the Behind-Closed-Doors title of the previous season.

Knocking off seven successive wins in the SPFL the gap at the top was increased to six points by Christmas with most pundits and fans in agreement that the club had upgraded on Gerrard who was clearly unhappy at the spending freeze enforced by the board.

And then 2022 came along, Ange Postecoglou tooled up, van Bronckhorst took the league leaders to Celtic Park on February 2 and things haven’t quite been the same since although his side suffered a heavier beating when they returned in September.

Angry bears have been waiting for a sacking since Saturday when a draw at St Mirren allowed Celtic to go nine points clear at the top of the Premiership.

Someone inside Ibrox sanctioned the Sky Sports celebration which isn’t likely to go down well with angry bears while their boss enjoys a sunshine holiday with the security of a contract that still has two and a half years to run

There are no celebrations in the Daily Record or the Sun to mark one year of van Bronckhorst being in charge at Ibrox.

Maybe the papers to do the prog. were drawn up a year ago. And somebody won’t let it slip. Shows what can happen if you are silly enough to put finances before sporting interests!!
