Aaron Mooy’s imposing performance for Australia in their win over Tunisia drew praise from SPFL ‘rivals’.

The Celtic midfielder teamed up with Jackson Irvine to control the midfield that gives the Socceroos a great chance of progressing to the knock-out stages in the World Cup.

A win over Denmark will guarantee a place in the last 16, a draw would also be good enough provided Tunisia don’t bounce back to beat France.

Ben Siegrist and Josip Juranovic reacted to Mooy’s three images on Instagram with Martin Boyle of Hibs and Cammy Devlin also praising their fellow Socceroo.

Mooy’s journey to Qatar is almost worthy of a feature film after he quit his club in China to train solo in Glasgow ahead of dramatic play off victories over UAE and Peru.

A contract from Celtic emerged which included Champions League football under a previous international boss all fed into yesterday’s display.

Whether or not the World Cup adventure continues beyond Wednesday remains to be seen but Mooy and Australia won’t ever forget bouncing back from a 4-1 defeat to France by beating Honduras.
