Ange Postecoglou has revealed that the bulk of Celtic’s January transfer business has already been completed.

With more than seven weeks to go until transfers can be registered with the SFA it seems like the Australian has turned Celtic into a model of efficiency and forward planning.

After being dropped in at the deep end last summer Postecoglou delivered the League Cup last December, kept Celtic in contention for the title then delivered three signings on December 31 that signalled a whole new approach to transfer business.

Yosuke Ideguchi has failed to make an impact but Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate have been pivotal to Celtic’s success since the turn of the year. In the third match of the year Matt O’Riley made his debut after arriving from MK Dons with his partnership with Hatate developing on a weekly basis.

Discussing his transfer intentions at today’s media conference, the Daily Record reports:

With the January window on the horizon, the Hoops have been linked with a move for defender Yuki Kobayashi among others and Postecoglou insists his work is all but done already.

He added: “A couple of weeks ago, we sort of did our (transfer) planning. The bulk of the work’s been done. What this time gives me is a little bit of opportunity just to plan for the rest of this year and probably the next summer window.”

If the January 2023 signings make anything like the impact of the Class of 2022 the Celtic support will have plenty to look forward to in the new year.
