Dave King will be voting against the re-election of Douglas Park at next month’s RIFC AGM.

The former chairman has become an increasingly vocal critic of his successor with current events at Ibrox giving him additional grounds to put the boot in and appeal to fans.

King walked away as chairman in March 2020 with only the 2016 Petrotank Challenge Cup to show for his efforts and looked on from afar as Park delivered two domestic trophies and Champions League football.

Park has never given a single media interview in two and a half years as chairman but is being goaded from the back pages by his former boardroom partner.

Discussing his plans for the AGM. King told The Sun:

I’ll be voting against three resolutions. The fact is, I was already having concerns about where this regime was headed.

I felt some of the things happening were unacceptable – un-Rangers-like. The treatment of ex-players, the treatment of supporters.

I felt voting against Graeme Park’s re-election last year would make that point. I had to put my money where my mouth was and use my vote to go along with what my concerns were.

It was heading in the wrong direction. I didn’t like the way Steven was forced out of the club. It’s not the way to treat people that delivered a title for us. I couldn’t not vote with my conscience.

Last season King had a £6m club loan repaid with interest rather than have the cash converted into company shares.
