Andrew Dallas given Celtic VAR appointment

Andrew Dallas will be on VAR duty when Celtic visit Hibs next Wednesday.

The Lanarkshire based official seems to be the only VAR specialist in the Scottish game having not actually refereed any matches this season. It seems that Ross County’s 4-1 defeat at Ibrox in May was his last ever libe match.

Alan Muir will referee the hoops for the first time this season when he takes charge of the match at Easter Road. Last week Muir was on VAR duty at Ibrox when Hibs had a decent claim for handball against James Sands completely ignored.

This morning the SFA announced the match officials for the final two matches of 2022, Kevin Clancy will referee Saturday’s home match against St Johnstone with Mike Roncone on VAR.

The next appointments will be met with great interest as the referee and VAR for the January 2 Glasgow derby are named.

Nick Walsh took charge of the fixture at Celtic Park in September which should rule him out of contention of what would be his fifth Ibrox appointment of the season.

John Beaton probably looks to be favourite to referee at Ibrox, Willie Collum will be on duty at Aberdeen tonight with Clancy taking Celtic on Saturday. Steven McLean is the only other current referee that has previously taken charge of a derby but his one and only appearance was on 31 December 2016.

Euan Anderson will referee tomorrow’s Celtic v Livingston match, CLICK HERE for all Referee appointments.
