Brentford, Pisa and Verona are apparently showing interest in signing Bosun Lawal.

The 19-year-old joined the Celtic B team in the summer of 2019 from Watford and has still to make his first team debut.

With Yuki Kobayashi joining Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Starfelt, Moritz Jenz and Stephen Welsh in the battle for places in central defence it is difficult to see Lawal featuring any time soon unless Celtic are hit by a massive run of injuries at the back.

Lawal has had to contend himself with playing against sides such as Caledonian Braves and Cumbernauld Colts but it seems that his form in the fifth tier of Scottish football has been noticed.

The Mail reports:

Brentford are among the clubs monitoring Celtic prospect Bosun Lawal. Ireland youth international Lawal is attracting interest after rising to the brink of the Celtic first team this season.

The 19 year-old, who can play at centre back or in central midfield, made the bench for the first time for Saturday’s 1-0 win at Aberdeen, retaining his place in Ange Postecoglou’s plans after also being included in Celtic’s squads for their winter training camps in Australia and Portugal.

Lawal’s displays for Celtic’s B side have helped him catch the eye of not just Postecoglou but now also Brentford and Italian duo Pisa and Verona, who are considering moves for the teenager.

Getting out on loan in January to get first team football would seem essential for the defender’s development.

With his contract running until May 2024 some big decisions will be taken over the next six months that will open the door to a Celtic first team place or a move elsewhere.
