In the first home match since the club announced that Peter Lawwell would replace Ian Bankier as chairman some Celtic fans staged a protest.

A simple flag showing the face of the former CEO was flown with the No Entry sign imposed over the image.

Celtic have kept the appointment of Lawwell very low key. On Friday December 2, between the arrival of Yuki Kobayashi, an unexpected media conference from Ange Postecoglou and the signing of Alistair Hamilton a statement was issued on the club website.

Despite endorsements from Dermot Desmond, Michael Nicholson, Bankier and Postecoglou the club never mentioned the appointment of Lawwell on any of their social media platforms.

After almost 18 years as CEO Lawwell stepped down from that role on 30 June 2021, his successor Dom McKay lasted less than three months before the club turned in-house to appoint Nicholson, initially on an interim basis then permanently into the job.

Make sure it isn’t Lawwell you’re standing beside singing YNWA when the lights go down. Dipsy!
