If you can’t play for Celtic the next best thing is to be watching them in action. Stephen Welsh enjoys the best of both worlds.

The defender headed in the opening SPFL goal of the season against Aberdeen but is currently out injured.

It takes a lot to keep Welsh away from Celtic, rather than watch the match at home on the telly he reverted back to supporter status to join the boisterous away fans roaring the champions to victory at Easter Road last night.

Two first half goals set the scene with Aaron Mooy and Daizen Maeda on the scoresheet before the second half show in front of the away support.

There was a shock when Celtic were awarded just their second penalty of the season, Aaron Mooy stepped up to double his tally for the season before Kyogo Furuhashi completed the scoring with a classy finish from Reo Hatate’s pass.

Welsh picked up a stomach muscle injury during Celtic’s Portuguese training camp but should be back in full training in the next week.
