It has been a long five weeks without real football but thankfully the staff at Glasgow Live! Have just decided to make things up to provide loyal bears with another feel-good story.

Not content with moonbeam transfer tales and insights into Micky Beale’s incredible training sessions the digital arm of the Daily Record has just gone the whole hog and made up a match report for tonight’s game against Hibs.

The great news for digital bears is that Beale enjoyed a 4-0 win over Hibs!

The first goal was the best of the two, with Ryan Jack picking up the ball around 20 yards out and firing a powerful effort into the top corner of the net. The pressure was relentless from the Gers, and Jack’s midfield partner Kamara got on the scoresheet moments later with a fantastic header at the back post from Ryan Kent’s cross.

After 44 minutes, Rangers had managed seven shots to Hibs’ zero, and just before the break, Tillman topped off an incredible first-half display with a goal to send his side into the break four goals to the good. The Hibs midfield were struggling to contain Tillman’s movement, and the midfielder broke away from his marker with ease to find a great position inside the box.

One fatal flaw in the report is that there was no mention of Nick Walsh, heading to Ibrox after a punishing day at Boclair Academy working on the fitness of the Murray Park starlets.

Tonight will be the eighth SPFL match of the season at Ibrox, from 16 top flight referees Walsh will take charge for the fourth time. The third time in a row that he has refereed Hibs going to Ibrox.

A proper simulation of tonight’s action would have had Ryan Porteous sent off, Hibs denied a clear penalty and a VAR assisted Tavpen to keep the bears happy.

Glasgow Live is one of a number of city centred websites launched by Reach to capture a digital audience pooling together the talents from publications like the Daily Record and Scottish Daily Express.

Fake Footy Reports might draw in clicks but they will send credibility plunging faster than the print circulation figures for the Record.

We have all seen the “odd” VAR decisions so far this season in the SPL.

I wonder if there will be a correlation between an increased frequency
of “odd” VAR decisions – and Beale’s start date as sevco manager…?

Some might suggest that Beale can’t be ‘allowed’ to fail this season?!

  • John Copeland says:

Wednesday nights reporting Scotland teatime edition had a sports piece about how tremendous and glorious the new’ the Rangers ‘manager’s tactics will be with Tavpen waxing lyrical too in an exclusive BBC interview ! A feel good bit if ever there was one …..Oh and by the way ,not one syllable about Hibs who just happen to be the opposition for tonight’s game …Funny that …
