Hawkeye on holiday as the SFA go on mute over Abada ‘goal’

Image for Hawkeye on holiday as the SFA go on mute over Abada ‘goal’

Thursday came and went without any sign of life from the SFA, there wasn’t even the release of a long range image or baffling website statement to justify the decision to disallow a ‘goal’ from Liel Abada.

Fortunately the silence from Hampden was matched by the Celtic Executive Team- perhaps Michael Nicholson and Ian Maxwell were at the same Christmas Lunch?

From Wednesday night when Steven Kirkland and Euan Anderson conspired to deny Celtic a goal there has been a media search to find a reason to justify the decision. ‘Just because’ doesn’t feature in the Laws of the Game.

In any decent sporting environment the Hawkeye image used to make the decision would be published alongside the relevant law used to disallow the ‘goal’. Nothing has surfaced.

The teething troubles excuse no longer stands up but increasingly Celtic fans are questioning their own club’s role in the silence.

Over 50,000 fans at the match were left in the dark, thousands more subscribers to Celtic TV were left watching a sporting event where ‘goals’ are randomly disallowed for no good reason.

The Celtic board would be foolish to think that Ange Postecoglou and his side can continue to overcome the referee and the VAR.

There is a minor storm just now on social media, when the referee and VAR cost the team points things will really kick off. John Beaton and Willie Collum on January 2 have the makings of the perfect storm.

No Hawkeye image has ever been published to justify a ‘goal’ from Abada away to Hearts in October, Michael Nicholson is on an SFA Working Group for VAR.

Should Celtic push SFA for transparency by publishing VAR reports?
