Scott Robertson is expecting to leave Celtic for St Mirren or Fleetwood when the transfer window opens next month.

It is three years since the midfielder made his solitary first team appearance, in from the start away to Cluj as Neil Lennon excused his League Cup winners from the Europa League dead rubber.

Loan spells at Gillingham, Doncaster and Crewe have given him a match-edge but the competition for places in the Celtic midfield is fierce with James McCarthy and Yosuke Ideguchi struggling to get on the bench.

At the end of last season Ewan Henderson, Luca Connell and Kerr McInroy all left Celtic with the Daily Record reporting that Robertson is also heading in that direction:

The 21-year-old was informed by boss Ange Postecoglou that he has no future at the club despite being part of the squad which played in Australia at the recent Sydney Cup and is expected to move on next month. Record Sport understands a switch to St Mirren and a possible reunion with old team-mate Scott Brown at Fleetwood Town are options for a player who’s enjoyed successful loan spells as Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers and Crewe earlier in his career.

Gordon Park of the Record seems close to the Robertson family, after the match in Cluj he spoke in detail with Stuart, the father of Scott.

Whatever option he takes up regular first team football has to be the priority, at the age of 21 Robertson already has decent experience of lower league football in England.
