Ange Postecoglou entered the January 2022 transfer window with a blast as Celtic announced the signings of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi on the final day of 2021.

It was a statement of intent, with Matt O’Riley added a fortnight later the hoops had added quality and depth that carried them all the way through to the title.

This year the SPFL Premiership table tells it’s own story with 14 wins out of 15 matches putting Celtic in the driving seat.

Alistair Johnston and Yuki Kobayashi will be registered on January 1 but further business is anticipated, incoming and outgoing.

Postecoglou dominates every aspect of transfer business, speaking to the Daily Record he previewed his plans for the window that opens in less than a fortnight:

We’re still working on a few things. Whether they will happen or not, we will see.

If I feel something is there that will make us stronger then, as much as Michael (Nicholson) and Chris (McKay) may want to have a quiet Christmas, I’m going to keep them working over that time and keep them on their toes!

We’re still working on things. No guarantee what will happen, but we’ve not even hit January yet, so we’ll see how things transpire. But it’s great to have Alistair and Yuki in. They have a couple of weeks to settle before they are available and we’ll see what else transpires over the next few weeks.

Whether speculation about Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis is converted into concrete bids will largely shape Celtic’s January plans.
