Contract talks between representatives for Giorgos Giakoumakis and Celtic are expected to resume before the end of the year.
In the final days of August 2021 a deal was struck between Celtic and VVV Venlo for the striker to join the hoops with a five year contract thrashed out.
In mid week news emerged that talks over a new contract had broken down with a January transfer the most likely outcome.
With Ange Postecoglou speaking out at the Celtic AGM about the need to sell players who were established favourites it seemed that the ground was being laid for a January departure.
Talks on an improved deal for Giorgos Giakoumakis also stalled in the last couple of weeks. It’s believed Giakoumakis is happy at Celtic & both parties still hope to come to an agreement.
Celtic in a strong position with Juranovic & GG – both contracted until summer of 2026.

Celtic have since been linked with an interest in as couple of strikers including Cho Gue-sung who is at the World Cup Finals in Qatar with South Korea..
With Giakoumakis turning 28 on Wednesday he is at a delicate age where his value is unlikely to go higher but with s contract that runs until 2026 Celtic have the situation largely under control.
