Chris Sutton is as baffled as any Celtic fan over the prospect of Giorgos Giakoumakis being sold for just €4m.
A fee of around £8-10m might make losing a proven goalscorer bearable but a €1m profit seems almost pointless when there are only two genuine strikers at the club.
Starting 11 Premiership matches last season and coming off the bench in a further 10, Giakoumakis scored 13 times last season as he replaced the injured Kyogo Furuhashi in the new year as Celtic rattled off 15 wins and three draws to take the title.
Pivotal to that run was two victories in the Glasgow derby, although Giakoumakis didn’t score his presence more than occupied Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s central defenders as the tide turned Celtic’s way.

In his three substitute appearances this year Giakoumakis helped create Kyogo’s 88th minute equaliser at Ibrox, struck the woodwork twice against Kilmarnock in the SPFL then scored the second goal at Hampden against the same club that booked Celtic’s place in the final of the Viaplay Cup.
On Saturday Ange Postecpglou said that no bids had been made for any of his players, the Celtic boss will face the media again this afternoon.
