Despite the earlier tweet from Fabrizio Romano the proposed transfer of Giorgos Giakoumakis to Urawa Red Diamonds is not yet done and dusted.

It seems that a €4m fee has been agreed between the two clubs but at the age of 28 the striker isn’t yet prepared to commit his future to the J-League.

With a fortnight still to go before the transfer window closes Giakoumakis seems to be in demand with his agent looking to find out exactly what is available.

A fee of just €4m isn’t likely to transform Ange Postecoglou’s transfer plans with supporters concerned about how the goals and presence of Giakoumakis is replaced.

With a formation that uses just one striker the 28-year-old Greek internationalist is the only natural alternative to Kyogo Furuhashi who has started all seven of Celtic’s matches since the World Cup break.

Celtic had been strongly linked with Cho Gue-sung but that trail seemed to go cold over the weekend with the striker likely to remain in Korea till the summer.

The fees being quoted are frankly baffling. What on Earth is going on at CP to allow this to happen?

penny pinching peter is back in the building

Paul, PL may be in the building, but, remember, the one thing he did was get top dollar for our sales. He’s not involved with the transfer dealings any more and all you see in the press is supposition and pure guess work. Have read that he was having a medical, then sits on the bench for Semi Final. He’s off too Japan, but his agent is “jetting in” to finalize a deal with Sampdoria. As I say until GG or Jura are not in squad and Ange confirms all is pure BS.

Editor: PL gets top dollar? Really? Arsenal paid £25m for KT, same window they paid Lille £72m for Pepe. Southampton turned a nice profit on Virgil #topdollar

  • Nick66 says:

The press and the ITKs Know F’All about our transfer dealings. I file everything under the, wait til Ange confirms tray.
