Swansea City have turned down a £900,000 offer to make Morgan Whittaker the first signing of the Micky Beale Revolution.
The striker is under contract until May 2025 and has been loaned out to League One leaders Plymouth Argyle for the first half of the season where he has scored nine goals.
Swansea have recalled the 22-year-old to be sold this month but haven’t been tempted by Beale’s low-ball offer.
With Alfredo Morelos ‘running’ down his contract and injury concerns over Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe bringing in another striker seems to be a priority for the new Ibrox boss.
Beale spent the first week of January gazing deep into the eyes of players contracted elsewhere but it seems that more work has to be done to bring Whittaker to Ibrox.
Four signings have been identified on permanent deals to go straight into the side to form the core for the next couple of seasons.
At his Friday media conference Beale said that he had done his bit to bring players in, leaving the negotiations and financial side upto transfer guru Ross Wilson.
