Cho Gue-Sung has held a media conference as Jeonbuk Hyundai began pre-season training.

The striker didn’t appear to be on the brink of a move to Europe despite Celtic being strongly linked with a deal since his appearances at the World Cup Finals in November.

A variety of reports have surfaced since the turn of the year with claims that negotiations had reached an advanced stage in London with Park Ji Sung representing Jeonbuk.

With Cho back in training at Jeonbuk a transfer looks unlikely which could have a knock on effect on Giorgos Giakoumakis leaving Celtic.

I can’t understand why we don’t just give Giakoumakis an improved deal. He’s proved a good acquisition and that is suited to our league (is this true of the replacements being touted?) . He may not have scored against the Huns, but so what? He’s banged in quite a few, despite a lack of minutes, some of which have been pivotal (that late one in Perth earlier this season being just one). He also offers a decent alternative to Kyogo, when you need more of a physical presence.

Frankly, I’d be playing both (think Sutton and Larsson), in a MON style 3-5-2 line up, in most domestic games, when most of the play is in the opposition half and it’s more about trying to break down their 10-0-0 formation and low block tactics, than worrying too much about having to dig in and defend.

There’s nearly as much spaghetti here as a N.I. Customs Trade Deal! Football is simple, Giakoumakis should become the best player that he can be and he can do that at Celtic!
