Tomoki Iwata is on his way to Scotland- allowing the midfielder to take a look at his new team-mates when they face Kilmarnock tomorrow.

Celtic announced the signing of the midfielder last week with Iwata following Ange Postecoglou and Daizen Maeda by making the move from Yokohama F Marinos to Celtic.

The new bhoy arrives with the accolade of being voted the Most Valuable Player during the 2022 J League season. With Reo Hatate, Kyogo Furuhashi and Maeda scoring eight of Celtic’s last 10 goals expectations are high for the Japanese bhoys.

Postecoglou will want to give Iwata at least two weeks training before considering when he can make his debut, the Scottish Cup tie against Morton on January 21 looks the most likely date.

Celtic’s midfield currently looks very strong but maintaining a pipeline of ready made talent is essential with two of the January 2022 arrivals- Hatate and Matt O’Riley- likely to attract transfer bids in the summer.
