Pressure is growing on the Ibrox board to finance the Micky Beale revolution.

Monday’s draw against a Celtic side operating at 60% of their capabilities has given the gullible renewed hope that they might one day be inside a stadium watching their side lift the SPFL title.

Beale turned the clock back to his time as assistant to Steven Gerrard when he picked his side to face Celtic with just Ben Davies and Malik Tillman signed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

When the former QPR boss arrived at the club he discussed reviewing the squad in February once he had transformed everyone back to the form of the Lockdown season.

After Monday’s draw he said that he needed two or three signings to go straight into the first team, not loans, projects or vanity signings to excite Kris Boyd on Sky Sports News.

Those comments have been welcomed by supporters even though their board spent the profits from the summer transfer window paying off Team Gio.

No website is more on-message than The Rangers Review but even that outlet is calling on Douglas Park to splash out this month for Beale:

Celtic did equalise but it didn’t come as a fault of any substitution. It was another catastrophically bad defensive effort. Several players failed to clear their lines – Tavernier, guilty all day, was passed far too easily and sat down. Ryan Jack was easily beaten. From there, Rangers failed to clear, with too many caught ball-watching.

It summed up where the team are at this moment. Fragile in defence but more than capable of going forward and hurting teams.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Beale said: “None of you knows who I fancy or not because I’m playing the only options I have”.

Well, we will find out very soon how true that all is.

Beale took a knife to a gunfight – but he almost won. Give him the proper backing and we’ll be on the right track. Make no mistake, that support is important, those big decisions are necessary and the all-conquering league leaders were made to look ordinary by a Rangers side whose levels are currently a way below expectation.

I am very much enthusiastic with what I have seen so far from Beale, arguably he is over-performing with the resources currently available.

With a big January ahead, big decisions are unavoidable and Beale must be backed.

One week into the transfer window there has been no strong suggestion of activity inside Ibrox, Beale might have to reign in his demands when he speaks to the media today.

Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack, Allan McGregor and Steve Davis are now free to sign contracts elsewhere.

I can see Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack, Allan McGregor and Steve Davis still being there when the window closes, Joe, cos nobody wants them.

I take it financial fair play regulations have not sunk in yet to the cheating club.

He will be handed the middle of a doughnut to buy players.
