Despite having the pleasure of looking deep into their eyes during transfer talks Micky Beale isn’t expecting to complete any in-coming deals this week.

With cash tight and UEFA Financial Sustainability rules to comply with cash looks to be tight at Ibrox after the summer profit was used to pay off Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his management team.

While Celtic have already made three new signings, with Alistair Johnston already looking the part, Beale is having to rely on his personal charm and Ross Wilson’s negotiating skills to get deals completed.

On Friday it sounded like the former QPR boss was close to bringing new faces to Murray Park but reality has kicked in with the timescale pushed back.

Beale told Sky Sports:

When I am recruiting I am recruiting for specific roles.

We obviously have the game on Sunday, then a free week into the semi-final with Aberdeen, but in between it gives me more time to do things.

The negotiation part then takes place. I’m not so much involved in that, that is with the agents and football clubs involved.

I would say that the two or three I’ve spoken to are very keen to come and sooner rather than later, the same on our side. So let’s see. There won’t be anyone in before this weekend.

It seems incredible that clubs agreed permission for their players to speak with Beale without transfer fees agreed in writing, equally wages will have been agreed in principle with agents before face to face talks went ahead.

After the win over Dundee United he was asked again about the incoming transfers, the Daily Record reports Beale saying:

I don’t know (if we’ll have the deals completed for Hampden) to be honest with you.

I would like to think we will continue with the negotiations. Since I spoke to you the other day there are even more (targets) who have come to the table but there is nothing concrete just yet.

John Souttar and Ianis Hagi are expected to resume full training in the next 10 days and will apparently be like new signings.
