According to Scott Burns talks have yet to get underway to bring Todd Cantwell to Ibrox.
The midfielder is out of favour at Norwich City with Micky Beale twice talking up his ability in media conferences after the 24-year-old was linked with a move to Ibrox.
As recently as Friday the Ibrox boss said that he had done his bit with the deals now in the hands of others inside Ibrox to complete.
That put the spotlight on Ross Wilson who has yet to deliver a single player with the halfway point passed in the transfer window.
Cantwell has been examined in the most glowing terms in the media even though he has played in less than half the number of games that Kenny McLean has managed for Norwich this season.
Writing in the Daily Record, transfer specialist Burns notes:

The midfielder is out-of-contract in the summer and won’t be staying at Carrow Road. Dutch side PSV Eindhoven have been linked with a move but Rangers are also in the hunt. Ibrox sources claim Rangers have still to begin active contract talks with Cantwell and his camp.
Beale will face the media today to preview tomorrow’s match away to Kilmarnock.
Having gazed into the eyes of four transfer targets he clearly has an expectation of bringing in some new faces before the end of the month.
