The departure of Giorgos Giakoumakis from Celtic doesn’t seem quite as imminent as Fabrizio Romano was suggesting.

Late this afternoon the Italian based transfer specialist tweeted that Celtic and Urawa Red Diamonds had agreed a fee for the striker to quit the hoops for the J-League.

Tonight however Football Scotland are reporting that the players agent will be in Glasgow this week to finalise the move for Giakoumakis.

On Friday Ange Postecoglou said that only 10% of transfer speculation was accurate, Mark Hendry of Football Scotland has a decent success rate since he broke the news in the summer of Celtic’s interest in Alexandro Bernabei.

Tonight he reports:

Giorgos Giakoumakis’ agent is arriving in Glasgow this week to finalise the striker’s Celtic exit.

The Greek hitman is set to leave Parkhead later this month following rampant speculation over contract negotiations which broke down between player and club. Giakoumakis’ representative, Blash Hosseini, is due to jet into Scotland for the entire week to organise his client’s departure with a number of clubs still keen to sign him from Celts.

Giakoumakis is wanted by Urawa Red Diamonds and it’s believed Parkhead chiefs have accepted an offer in the region of £3million from the Japanese club. However, the 28-year-old is mulling over other options, with MLS outfit Atlanta United reportedly seeking an agreement.

Postecoglou will host a pre-match media conference tomorrow where he is bound to be questioned on interest in Giakoumakis.

If the striker is missing from the squad to face St Mirren on Wednesday night it can be assumed that his Celtic career is virtually over.
