Ange Postecoglou was pleased with the Celtic debut of Yuki Kobayaski in the 4-0 win over St Mirren.

The defender was one of four changes to the side that beat Kilmarnock at Hampden on Saturday, teaming up with Carl Starfelt in the centre of defence with another January signing, Alastair Johnston getting his third outing at right-back.

There were a few testing moments in the first half as the new defensive pairing got their bearings but as the match developed Kobayashi looked more comfortable on the left side of defence.

He is only a young guy, still getting to grips with football here and life here. I thought that he handled himself well.

They are a physical team, they are pretty direct. He had to deal with a few things and I think that he showed his qualities on the ball, he’ll get better from that.

Cameron Carter-Vickers picked up an injury at Hampden and is likely to miss out on Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie at home to Morton.

Moritz Jenz missed out completely on last night’s squad with Stephen Welsh on the bench, his first involvement since picking up an injury at the December training camp in Portugal.
