Michael Beale has been left out of the loop by his Ibrox pay-masters.
While the team manager has been delivering constant positive updates on transfer business Swansea have knocked back a bid of £900,000 for Morgan Whittaker.
Beale spent the first week in January looking deeply into the eyes of signing targets but 19 days into the window he is still waiting for the first new arrival.
Ross Wilson is in charge of delivering transfer targets but it seems that he hasn’t been telling the full story to Beale about his failure to deliver.
Covering the issue from Kilmarnock last night the Daily Record reports:
Beale was surprised to learn that Swansea City boss Russell Martin had revealed that Rangers had made a bid for winger Whittaker, who had been on loan at Plymouth Argyle in the first half of the season, last week – insisting that this wasn’t his understanding of the situation. He said: “Did he really [Martin saying bid rejected]?
“I didn’t know we had made a bid but I will talk about the player. They have recalled him for a reason.
“I would say that he was one of the better if not the best player in League One in the first half of the season and unless they have recalled him to play him, they must have recalled him to move him to a higher level. I think he is a good player but there is nothing more than that. And that is not what I have been told in-house.”
It seems like Beale is discovering the real budget issues that saw Giovanni van Bronckhorst having to put a brave face on the loan signings of Aaron Ramsey and Amad Diallo last January.
?? Michael Beale says he isn’t aware of Rangers making a failed bid for Morgan Whittaker, despite Swansea boss Russell Martin saying so:
