Barry Ferguson has told Micky Beale to shut up about Celtic’s spending power.

At the weekend the new Ibrox boss called Ange Postecoglou lucky because he had been able to spend money rebuilding his side.

The Celtic boss had to sell Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard to fund his title winning squad, by delivering Champions League football £12m was spent securing Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers on permanent contracts.

Over the last 12 months more than £30m has been brought in at Ibrox through the sales of Nathan Patterson, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey.

Unfortunately for Beale much of that windfall has been wasted on Rabbi Matondo, Ben Davies and Ridvan Yilmaz while Kemar Roofe and Filp Helander drain the wage bill while making little contribution.

Last week Beale looked deep into the eyes of a number of transfer targets but so far Ross Wilson has failed to complete any new signings.

Ferguson appeared on Go Radio yesterday, picking up on his comments Football Scotland reports:

I’m a big believer in worry about No 1. Worry about yourself. If Celtic want to spend money that’s up to them, if they want to spend £5m, £6m, £7m, let them do it. Michael Beale needs to concern himself on who he brings in.

Once Beale gets his new signings on the training ground he’ll be able to transform their values through his incredible coaching skills.
