Rosenborg will only sell Casper Tengstedt if an extraordinary offer is made for the striker.
Tengstedt is under contract until May 2026 but his club has a tried and tested system of identifying, developing and selling players on to richer leagues across Europe.
Celtic have been heavily linked with signing Cho Gue-sung but as that issue is dragged out other names have been linked with a move based on the assumption that Giorgos Giakoumakis will be leaving the club.
Danish u-21 internationalist Tengstedt has produced some impressive figures for Rosenborg but it seems that his club are planning on having him around for the 2023 season.
Speaking to the Glasgow Times, Rosenborg chief Mikael Dorsin said:
He’s one of our key players. So if we have to sell him now, something extraordinary will be needed. I can’t talk about amounts, but it will be something incredible if we were to sell him this winter.
Casper has also been here for a short time, so I think he also understands that. There has been a lot of interest, which is natural when he has produced such a great season.
But from there it is a long way before there is anything concrete. In football, you always hear about a lot of rumours and interest, but it’s a long time before anything official happens.
I can’t say anything about the clubs that we are talking to, but it is normal that there is interest.
They also know his situation well. He has only been here for a short time and they know we want to keep him. They also know that it’s going to take something extraordinary to sign the Norwegian league’s best player.
After announcing three arrivals before the January transfer window had opened it seems that the arrival of a new striker at Celtic is dependent on what happens with Giakoumakis.
Like Tengstedt the Greek striker is on a long term contract but his departure from Celtic seems to be only a matter of timing.
