Mainz 05 appear to have dropped their interest in signing Cho Gue-sung over a £2.5m transfer fee.

Overnight on Friday a number of Korean sources were suggesting that the Bundesliga side were close to completing a deal for the World Cup striker but that appears not to be the case.

Celtic have been linked with Gue-sung since before the World Cup Finals but it seems that any movement will be dependent on what happens to Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Midtjylland are the only club reported to be showing serious interest in the Celtic striker, even with a major salary increase you’d expect the player to be looking for a higher profile club that the Danish side.

It seems strange that £2.5m could be the asking price for a striker that scored twice at the World Cup Finals, that sort of fee in Europe wouldn’t get you close to a current international striker from a strong nation.

Ange Postecoglou seems fairly content with the level of business that Celtic have completed so far but with Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton in the summer the last significant departures it seems likely that there will be more departures from a first team squad that is now numbering around 25 players.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
