Old habits die hard. Despite over 50 years reporting on the game Hugh Keevins just can’t help himself from writing Celtic off.

This season away to St Johnstone and Aberdeen he has been proclaiming points dropped before the final whistle only to be stopped in mid-track by winning goals from Giorgos Giakoumakis and Callum McGregor.

At the start of the season the veteran Shock-Jock tipped the SPFL Premiership trophy to be heading for Ibrox, on no other basis than he felt it would be swapped season by season.

With a nine point lead taken into today’s Derby clash avoiding defeat would put Ange Postecoglou’s side in a very strong position to hold onto the Premiership trophy.

After taking an early lead through Daizen Maeda Celtic found themselves 2-1 down after 53 minutes.

More than half an hour passed without an equaliser, as the clock struck 87 minutes Keevins was again anticipating dropped points when he felt that old familiar sinking feeling of a dramatic late goal for the hoops.

Hugh Keevins: For the most part, 99 times out of 100 you look at Celtic and think that it’s coming…. but you don’t get the impression looking at them this afternoon that that that that there’s anything imminent here.

They just look to be struggling.

Gordon Dalziel: They are lacking a bit of sharpness for me. I’m used to watching Celtic, everybody compliments them for entertaining football as Jota here is trying to make something work.

Gordon Duncan: Aaron Mooy here in the box, so many Rangers bodies back, Ryan Jack does great, it’s bobbling around everywhere- and there is an equaliser for Celtic.

  • Joe Mullaney says:

I’m no fan of his, however, he said that they seemed to be struggling, and they were. Everyone around me was saying the same thing. What Gordon D said is pretty much the same. I know it’s a good laugh when things like this happen, but some times it’s taken too far. He was calling it as he saw it at the time and it was true, they were feckin struggling.
