It was almost as predictable as Willie Collum’s refusal to get John Beaton to review the Connor Goldson handball.
When the ball was played behind Josip Juranovic it all began to open up, when Carl Starfelt dived it it seemed inevitable but a match referee still has to apply the laws of the game.
It is not a foul for going to ground or sliding in. Fashion Sakala anticipated it, taking the ball back from Starfelt’s lunge he pushed his right foot into the Celtic defender and hit the deck.
John Beaton didn’t hesitate, Willie Collum backed him up and Celtic had conceded their fifth penalty since the introduction of VAR.
In the SPFL the Ibrox side haven’t had a penalty awarded against them in 20 matches, in six Champions League ties with foreign referees four penalties were awarded against them.

If Kris Boyd reckons that it wasn’t one then you know that it probably wasn’t. I thought that it was very soft. One thing that I am sure about is that had it happened in the Rangers penalty are then we would not have got it. That’s how our officials work.

Starfelt shouldn’t have gone to ground for a slide tackle in the box, but I do agree with what you’re saying, as it was a very soft penalty. Brother Beaton couldn’t wait to give it.. Then, when we have a clear penalty shout, they didn’t even bother to use VAR to check it.. ??

Agree with what you’re saying Michael but Starfelt should never had slid in like that ,at Ibrox in sevco penalty box what did he think the outcome was going to be , juranovic was terrible today his head has gone elsewhere I thought he a sub should have have been replaced,sakala is not that good but juranovic was terrible making him look good,that Connor goldson two handed flip over the bar should have been a stonewall but we should know what to expect against sevco and the establishment referees,I think Ange called it wrong putting juranovic in as a left back he was terrible, should have stuck bernabei in who is a left sided defender,we got of the hook today,must try harder.
