David Dickinson will referee Sunday’s match between St Mirren and Celtic- just a month after being in charge of the hoops for their 4-1 win away to St Johnstone.

Sunday will be his fourth Celtic match of the season which suggested that he is heading up the SFA ladder even though he is associated with one of the most controversial VAR decisions of the season.

Back in November Celtic had just taken the lead at home to Dundee United when a header struck Alexandro Bernabei on the arm with his back to play.

After a prompt from the VAR official Dickinson checked the pitch-side monitor, pointed to te penalty spot and booked Bernabei before Steven Fletcher equalised. Fortunately two late goals ensured that no points were dropped.

Andrew Dallas will be the VAR official on Sunday even though he no longer referees matches, the game kicks off at 12 noon and is live on Sky Sports.
