Ange Postecoglou has had his squad practising penalties this week.

Sunday’s Viaplay Cup Final could go the whole distance before being decided with a distinct lack of experience in the Celtic squad from 12 yards out.

Giorgos Giakoumakis (Livingston) and Josip Juranovic (Real Madrid) both missed penalties earlier in the season with the team losing out to Everton on penalties at the Sydney Super Cup.

With both of those players sold in January Aaron Mooy is now the penalty taker but Postecoglou has ensured that everyone else is ready for the unexpected at Hampden.

Asked about the prospect of a penalty shoot-out on Sunday the Celtic boss told The Sun:

You prepare for everything. There’s no part of the game I think you should dismiss. Everyone prepares as if it will go the distance. That way there are no surprises on the day.

Celtic go to Hampden looking to win the trophy for the seventh time in the last nine seasons, a run stretching back to the 2015 final when Kris Commons and James Forrest scored the goals to defeat Dundee United with Forrest missing a late penalty as John Guidetti squabbled for the ball.

Nick Walsh will referee Sunday’s match, his second Glasgow derby of the season.

Well, chances are there will be one penalty during normal time, the gift of the Tavpen.

We will see if the referees get their act together and play by the rules and no favourites and stop the cheating with the handballs this is make or break with var, if they screw up again and not go to the var screen the the referees show face the sack and referees from outside Scotland should be brought in to referee big games and if it works out then the rest of the games should follow suit.
