Locked in his comforting bubble of management talk delivering reassuring sound-bites Mick Beale is probably unaware of the backlash his side’s defeat at Hampden has generated.

In his mind the former Liverpool and Chelsea coach is the brightest young boss in the business with that status underlined by three months of fawning media coverage- hanging on his every claim.

Last week he was riding the crest of a wave for going to war with Chris Sutton but that tide turned at 1.45pm on Sunday when he announced a team to face Celtic without Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell.

That news was met by astonishment from Ibrox fans with sucking the oxygen out of the pre-match build up the politest of terms being used.

Refusing to make changes at half-time was another issue while the substitution of Alfredo Morelos soon after he had scored piling on the problems for the former QPR boss.

A can of worms has been opened that Beale has very little idea about- it will take more than soothing words to calm the bears down- anything less than a win at Celtic Park on April 8 could have serious consequences for the smooth talking self-declared coaching genius.
