Ange Postecoglou appears to have delivered his last Giorgos Giakoumakis transfer update.

Since the SPFL season resumed at Aberdeen on December 17 the Celtic boss has been getting quizzed on the future of the striker after a report revealed that talks over a new contract had broken down.

Giakoumakis continued to play for Celtic under January 14 but has been posted missing from the last five matchday squads.

A medical in Amsterdam suggested that Urawa Red Diamonds would be his next club but over the last seven days Atlanta United appear to be closing in on a deal believed to be worth around £4m to Celtic.

Following today’s 4-1 win away to St Johnstone the Glasgow Times reports:

Asked on BBC Sportsound if there was a particular reason for the hold-up, Postecoglou said: “No, that’s what I meant by it’s off my radar.

“I’m led to believe there should be an announcement forthcoming so I know everyone else is hanging on for it, but as I said the other day it’s off my desk.”

Postesrecoglou isn’t due to speak to the media until Friday, ahead of the Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren.

Oh Hyeon-gyu made his third appearance of the bench today and looks to be settling in well to the well drilled system that Ange Postecoglou has installed.

With no midweek matches during February the new bhoy can get to know his team-mates better on the training ground as like at Celtic progresses beyond Giakoumakis.
