Aaron Mooy was at his best again yesterday as Celtic crushed St Johnstone 4-1 to restore their nine point lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership.

Returning to the side in place of Matt O’Riley, Mooy was involved in the heart of the action capping a fine performance with a touch of magic to score Celtic’s third goal.

After controlling a through ball from Jota it looked like he would require a second touch but that turned into a shot that was too early for Remi Matthews in the home goal as Celtic stretched their lead.

At 2-1 the game was still alive with Drey Wright’s long range effort the first goal that Celtic have lost since January 2 at Ibrox.

The pitch at McDiarmid Park didn’t encourage flowing football but Celtic adapted their game to suit the conditions with a stoppage time goal from David Turnbull stretching the goal difference advantage at the top of the Premiership to 25 on top of nine points.
