John Kennedy believes that Ange Postecoglou is building special with his Celtic squad.
The hoops assistant has been fully involved with a couple of different management styles that have delivered an incredible run of success stretching back over a decade.
Brendan Rodgers set an incredible benchmark with an Invincible Treble in 2016/17 with that achievement out of bounds when Postecoglou’s side lost at St Mirren in September.
The enthusiasm of the Celtic support hasn’t been dented in the slightest with the squad facing a very big fortnight that includes a cup final, return trip to St Mirren and two matches against Hearts.
All of the signs suggest that the squad are well capable of succeeding in those fixtures with Kennedy getting the correct vibes from the training ground.
He told The Sun:
You get a sense every day the team are on it and really hungry. They have a real intent and focus. I’ve seen that through all of those eras.
I remember it in Brendan’s team. They had the bit between their teeth and a huge hunger to succeed and to continually succeed.
We’ve got a group now who have had a small taste of success [with a title and League Cup], in terms of what the club has achieved over the years.
They’ve got a taste for it and they are hungry for more. When you have that in a group it’s very strong. The manager uses it psychologically all the time.
He’s very good on that side of things and motivating players. We certainly feel at the moment we are building towards something special. But we can’t take our eyes off the ball.
Nothing matters beyond Sunday’s match and retaining the trophy which is exactly the message that Postecoglou has repeated since he took charge of the club.
