A cricket reporter in Australia is the latest to run with the Ange for Leeds yarn that was grabbing the headlines a couple of weeks ago.

In the week following the sacking of Jesse Marsch elements of the Scottish media were almost running with hourly updates as Leeds were linked with and rejected by a number of candidates.

The job remains vacant with Michael Skubala continuing as caretaker at least into Saturday’s six pointer at home to Leeds.

Andy Maher covers cricket and Aussie Rules Football for Seven Network and 1116 SEN and has been sharing on air what he has heard about Postecoglou.

Fox Sports reports Maher saying:

I’ve got a snout who’s quite hooked into Australian soccer. He’s given me a steer here and there and on enough occasions he’s been right.

Gives me a call this morning adamant that this will be Ange Postecoglou’s last year at Celtic, and he will be leaving at the end of the year. And that he will be, it depends on survival in the Premier League, he will be taking one of two positions. But predominantly and most likely it will be the position at Leeds.

Peter Lowy, son of Frank, bought into Leeds (in late 2021). One of his assistant coaches at Celtic is Harry Kewell, of course a celebrated Leeds player.

Huge club, massive upside, struggling to hold onto their position in the Premier League. The temptation of being the manager to restore Leeds to Champions League-type contention and top-four, top-six status in the Premier League would be appealing to anyone.

This snout is telling me, watch this space, at the end of the season – it’s going to happen.

With the influx of new investors, effectively gulf states, the prospects of any club outside of an elite six or seven qualifying for the Champions League is looking less likely with each passing month.

Newcastle are now very much in contention for one of those four spots with Chelsea, the biggest spenders in Europe last month looking almost certain to miss out.

Postecoglou could leave Celtic for the EPL at some stage but a continual dog fight at Leeds United would carry little appeal in their current circumstances.

This Aussie guy should maybe stick to covering cricket. BBC are reporting that Leeds are set to appoint ex-Watford manager Javi Gracia.

Before the cup final this weekend Dermot Desmond’s entire ownership of his Celtic shares will be up for sale ,Kyogo ,Hatate and Maeda will be getting ready to be sent back to Japan in disgrace and Ange will be described as a conniving ,nasty piece of work to his staff behind the scenes by the SMSM ! All according to a report ,you understand .Known as preferential treatment by all media platforms ,the objective is to make Celtic FC out to be a basket case ahead of the Viaplay final . An unnamed cricket source has stated Ange will definitely be gone next season , perfectly timed to cause severe interruption to the final preparations for Sunday …. No doubt big Kerry ‘Skull ‘ O’Keefe was the source ! Now there is a funny ,funny commentator …
