Some legendary figures have been passing on their best wishes as the Dubai Hoops celebrates their 20th anniversary.

Around Seville time the Celtic fans based in the gulf state decided to get properly organised as they met up for matches with social events an essential part of the calendar.

For ex-pats working in Dubai the club has become an essential part of their routines while the thousands of holidaymakers love to enjoy the unique experience of finding a little corner of Celtic in the city that offers everything to the visitor.

Last weekend Roy Aitken, Brian McClair, Derek Whyte and Peter Grant got together with the Dubai Hoops to relive the memories of Love Street 86, six months later Celtic were over in Dubai to play English champions Liverpool in the Super Cup.

As the video shows the Dubai Hoops is a popular club with Chris Sutton, Mick McCarthy, Tosh McKinlay, Pat Bonner and Pierre van Hooijdonk among the former players to have visited and sent on their best wishes.

For a couple of years Dubai became the winter training base for the Celtic squad, it played a part in launching a few treble bids but the events of January 2021 are best forgotten like most things from that grim season.

Perhaps a title win this season might convince the club to revisit Dubai in January 2024 and restore a modern tradition.
