John Kennedy has laughed off the media frenzy about Ange Postecoglou ditching Celtic to join Leeds United.

The hoops boss opted out of today’s media duties which added fresh fuel to the media fire on a slow week without any fixtures.

Since Jess Marsch was sacked on Monday Postecoglou has been linked with the vacancy, more so from Scottish sources that from Yorkshire.

It has been an exciting media diversion that can run until a new manager is appointed at Elland Road with Kennedy very familiar with the games that get played out on the Scottish rumour mill.

There is always speculation, I think. Credit to the manager in terms of the job that he has done here.

It is a bit like players, when players come here, they do well they get linked to other clubs. So the manager has shown himself, his ability as a manager, I think when you do that and have success with that attracts attention.

That’s what has happened but ultimately, you know there is a lot of speculation, that is what it is, there’s a lot of noise but I know first hand the way that he works, he is really focussed on his job here, he loves being here, you know he is in the middle of building something very special so his mind is firmly focussed on being at Celtic and being the best that he can up here.

Postecoglou remains on the same 12 month rolling contract that he signed when he started at Celtic in June 2021.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Scottish Cup tie with St Mirren he is expected to give interviews to Viaplay Sports, BBC Scotland and Celtic TV.
