Ten days after the Viaplay Cup Final defeat Kenny Miller is spinning furiously for the Micky Beale Revolution.

Three months of failure as Number 2 to Mark Fotheringham at Huddersfield have exposed Miller’s lack of management ability on the back of even briefer spells in charge of Livingston and Falkirk.

With each passing day the media is trying to uncover positives from the Hampden defeat but as their banners at home to Kilmarnock demonstrated even the Gullible & Deluded can see through the upbeat soundbites.

Miller’s week consists of a rota split between BBC Scotland, Go Radio, Radio Clyde and an exclusive column in the Daily Record making him perfectly placed to talk up Gary McAllister’s former bibs and cones guy.

Listening in to an appearance on the BBC, the Daily Record reports Miller saying:

You want to win the cup at the end of the day and the fact they never plus never performed to the levels everybody knows they can, that is where the disappointment comes in. But they need to dust themselves down as Michael has got more out the players than there was previously.

It’s a not a bad thing to be winning games when you are not top of your game and it is still early in Michael’s reign, so there is going to be a lot more to come from this team. Their aim has to be to get this Scottish Cup.

If they can close the gap on Celtic between now and the end of the season, that would be great. I think the two Old Firms are really big for Michael as it’s a chance to show Celtic aren’t that much better than Rangers and I am sure he believes that.

It is of course possible that Celtic could win the two remaining SPFL derby matches but until April 8 Miller can take comfort from the prospect of cutting the gap.

In 2019 Steven Gerrard lost a League Cup Final to Celtic and was given a sympathetic reaction from supporters who recognised progress was being made from a 2-0 home defeat to Celtic three months earlier.

Beale’s problem is talking up his side, crowing about his two January signings then being afraid to put them into his side at Hampden.

Even more is now expected of Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin when they face Celtic next month, if Beale loses again it will become even harder for Miller and the on-message media crew to spin it as Season Ticket renewals are sent out.

Miller is a gibberish incoherent illiterate of the highest order, and thankfully if he’s on Clyde I only need to say – Alexa switch off – and don’t need to even walk to the radio these days !

Wasn’t he a big Hi-Bees supporter who has jumped the dyke and whored himself to the rancid Sevco cause…

The good folks of Huddersfield having to listen to that for two months – poor souls indeed, and their impending relegation has his Sevco bloody mits all over it –

I wonder how he would have coped with The excellent annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Huddersfield (Past highlights are online) given his leap from The Green and White of Edinburgh to the manky Red, White and Blue of Glasgow !

Still it’s always nice to watch his first Celtic goal v Sevco and his bursting neck muscles celebrating right beside that rancid Sevco supporters corner in Paradise – thankfully now reduced !

The big “Old Firm” games won’t be taking place, they ended in 2012.

  • Bottle Green says:

    BBC Radio to Kenny Miller:
“Right Kenny here’s your brief – talk up Rangers and down play Celtic.
It’s the usual fee £1,000 for the hour and £100 for every time you mention the words ‘Old Firm’. Simples!”
