There are many elephants in the Scottish media room, so many areas strictly marked out of bounds.
When Ange Postecoglou offered BBC Scotland an open goal to discuss bizarre VAR decisions the state broadcaster cut the interview short as they quickly brought the interview to a halt.
UEFA’s new Financial Sustainability Regulations are out of bounds, especially the clubs on their ‘watch list’ with a summer rebuild to contemplate.
After the weekend matches the Daily Record and The Sun have taken a nibble at some penalty statistics but stopped way short of the whole story.
In the 16 rounds of fixtures since VAR was introduced to the SPFL one club, to the surprise of no-one hasn’t had a penalty awarded against them. At the same time the runaway leaders with a vastly superior goal difference have had six penalties awarded against them.
Joe Hart has lost 19 goals in the SPFL this season, six from the penalty spot. Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin have picked the ball out of the net 24 times but neither of those goalkeepers have faced a league penalty.
The non-penalty award goes back before VAR, before this season to January last year with the run now standing at 44 SPFL games. Strangely that number was reached a couple of years ago before St Johnstone were awarded a stoppage time penalty in a dead-rubber in front of no fans.
Don Robertson will referee tonight’s match at Easter Road, Hibs won’t be able to call on notorious fall-guy Ryan Porteous who was sold to Watford in January.
Rangers have now had two runs of 44 league games without conceding a penalty in just over 3 years.
1st run of 44 from January 2020 to April 2021.
2nd run of 44 from January 2022 to March 2023 (present day)
2 runs this close together is what sets this apart. https://t.co/e5jrcBS1Yj

Here is the EPL. ManU matches Rangers 44 taken. No one matches their 9 conceded if in the EPL 5 seasons. The EPL played all 38 in the COVID season. No one comes close to Rangers 35 margin (44 taken, 9 conceded). Palace is a surprise. The big clubs have expected big margins. pic.twitter.com/rwJiqOeeQJ

And it will be groundhog day again this season with no penalty awarded against sevco until the league title is done and dusted then the dead rubber games will come into play again and sevco will then get that RARE 1 penalty against for the season, because it ain’t happening while they are still in contention for the league.
Mare Crap Logic fae the RESIDENT NUMPTY LOL!! How MANY Predictions have u made ya Dik that are UTTER SHITE?? Fuk off bak tae Fester Fester CLOWN!!
Elephant in the room?
That’s a bit harsh on Morelos. 🙂
Well, as far as unusually, prolonged ‘lucky spells’ for sevco not conceding penalties goes:
it’s all about setting new World Records with the Ibrox club!
Nothing to see here – according to the wilfully blind SFA blazers.
It’s probably going to take some ‘unintended consequence’ which finally forces the SFA and The Scottish Referees’ Association to publicly address the worst kept secret in Scottish football.
Palace – no surprise – one word “Zaha”.
Truly astonishing indeed – but not surprising at all…
I wonder if a clever speaking (I’m not that good) Hoops fan could go on Clyde Superscoreboard and highlight this – That said it would need to be after a different ‘football point’ to get by editorial level for sure…
Jeez – And they think that THEY’RE the ones who are hard done by –
Anyway Thanks – That’s me armed to the teeth for the mixed bar on Saturday – one penalty against Sevco in 88 SPFL matches – I’ll confidently take that stat out with me on Saturday as Hibernian sure as hell won’t get one tonight even if Sevco are 4 goals up which they certainly won’t be !
