Ange Postecoglou is well aware of next January’s Asian Cup schedule but won’t be rushed into any decision making.

As it stands Celtic could have five players involved in the competition but there could be more or less depending on activity during the summer transfer window.

Next year’s Asian Cup will be held in Qatar between January 12 and February 10 with just the first week overlapping with the SPFL winter break.

Asked about concerns over player issues with the competition, Postecoglou told the Daily Record:

It is too far away. No-one is more aware than me when the Asian Cup is on because I’ve won one but it is in our planning and when we get closer to it we’ll do what we have to.

If a club has three players on international duty they can have matches postponed but building up a fixture backlog could create other problems for later in the season.

Twenty four teams will take part on the Asian Cup with Japan, Australia and South Korea expected to go far into the knock-out stages.
