Next to nothing between the sides- Kris Boyd finally shares his Hampden thoughts

Kris Boyd has claimed that there was next to nothing between the two teams in last Sunday’s Viaplay Cup Final!

The Sky Sports expert seems to be on his own with that view after a succession of pundits admitted that there is quite a gulf between the Glasgow clubs.

The scoreline doesn’t reflect that but anyone taking a detached view of the Hampden clash would conclude that Celtic were well worth their win.

Picking a combined XI from the two sides it would be difficult to state a decent case for any of the Ibrox stars with James Tavernier apologising to fans and John Lundstam admitting that him and his team-mates had failed to turn up.

Despite that mountain of evidence Boyd viewed things differently as he told readers of The Sun:

In the Viaplay Cup final, there was next to nothing between the sides in spells. For me, the main difference was the two men up front.

In Kyogo, Celtic have a selfless team player, someone who runs himself into the ground for the greater good. It’s not that he hasn’t ever been able to do it. Because he has in the past.

No, Morelos either can’t get himself back into the physical shape required to put a shift in for the team. Or he doesn’t want to.

Either way, it has to stop. The No?9 position is far too important to how teams play these days and right now Rangers are suffering because of Morelos’ lack of mobility.

That may sound rich to some coming from me — but I hold my hands up on that. The difference is I wasn’t picked to play against Celtic.

At the time it angered and frustrated the life out of me and I had more than one terse conversation with Walter Smith about it. But as the years went on I realised he was absolutely right. As he always was.

Every team is bound to have some possession in a cup final but after Morelos scored Joe Hart didn’t have another save to make.

Tomorrow Boyd is expected to be part of the coverage from Sky Sports as Celtic take on St Mirren, the only Scottish side to beat them this season.

I love it when they say there is nothing between the sides because it means they think they don’t have to bring in new players as the people who are already there are challenging us when we know they ain’t.
So dafties in the klan go along with it meanwhile we keep getting further and further away from the BIGOTED KLUB.

Nothing going on between the ears there from the village idiot.

The only goal the huns got should have been disallowed for a blatant push by the fat boy, and they had no more shots on target.

Dumb and dumber as usual from Bidie.

Excellent. …and here starts the build up to ” we’re gonny beat them, cos Mick is as good as Postecoglou and we should have , could have might have, …will ! ” The mentality of England and her sons of William . Ha, Ha ! sit, back and enjoy another ride !

  • Sean McGinley says:

Here we go again, we’re on the road again…..should have, could have, might have, would have and then……will beat them, cos our delusion has succeeded again…Mick is as good as Ange, we were unlucky, we were close etc, I can say it for them. So repetitive, but again I will sit back and enjoy the ride and their fall. The new club that keeps on giving.

Does thicko mean the 2×1 score going on the missed chances from Celtic around about 6 . Celtic at present just the best in scotland .

You’ll have noticed at the Viaplay League Cup final ,big fake Kris Boyd was missing in action on the guest invitation list ! His expert commentary was not required ! Now we know there is one TV company out there who realise that this buffoon has nothing original to offer in commentary and by using him on screen ,will diminish ratings and viewing figures .Still there’s always the BBC Scotland gig to fall back on no doubt when it all goes nipples up with SKY sports .
