Micky Beale is treading on thin ice by urging Ibrox fans to get back in line and show their support for Ross Wilson.
Alongside Stewart Robertson the performance of transfer guru Wilson has come under attack from fans fearing another Celtic treble.
Over the last 18 months Wilson has been handed the transfer funds from selling Nathan Patterson, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey with crocks John Souttar and Tom Lawrence added to the wage bill while £12m was splashed out on Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo and Ben Davies.
With seven first team players out of contract at the end of the season a rapid rebuild is required with Wilson not trusted to put a team on the park capable of stopping Celtic.
Before the kick off against Motherwell yesterday around 70% of the away fans held up posters protesting against Wilson and Robertson- rather than side-step the issue Beale told The Sun that fans need to get in line and back the board:
Ross’ sole job isn’t recruitment, it’s down to a number of people. My job is to win games of football and make the fans happy. That’s what I’m trying to do with the players, that’s my sole focus.
We’re trying to make the fans happy. I understand their frustrations but I think we’re much stronger when we’re all together.
Hopefully sooner rather than later, that will come back in line because it’s important. There are enough people outside of Rangers who don’t want us to do well, so let’s make sure we’re together.
Beale should be very careful of criticising loyal bears ahead of three Glasgow derbies.
While he ran off to Aston Villa and QPR fans watched in horror as Celtic got off the canvas to win three of the last four domestic trophies, if that run stretches to five out of six Beale will join Robertson and Wilson in the firing line.
